There are times in life when you don't need a 10-hour flight, nor a culture shock on the other side of the world. You just need to throw a small bag in the car, switch off your phone and head somewhere where the word "rush" doesn't exist in the dictionary.
That place is called the Alentejo.
Doing a road trip through the Alentejo isn't just driving; it's intensive therapy. It's swapping the traffic on the VCI or the 2ª Circular for straight roads that seem to have no end, lined with cork oaks and olive trees, where the only obstacle you might find is a flock of sheep crossing.
Martin designed the perfect itinerary for those urgently needing to slow down:
1. The Costa Vicentina: Where the Land Ends and the Sea Begins 🌊
Start your trip by heading down the coast. Forget the Algarve beaches packed with apartment blocks and hotels. The Costa Vicentina is raw, wild and beautiful. Drive along the dirt tracks (yes, the car will get dirty, but it's part of the adventure) until you reach hidden beaches like Praia do Malhão or Praia de Odeceixe. The smell of the sea air and the salt spray crashing on the cliffs wash off any accumulated stress.
2. The Alentejan Diet: Forget the Calories 🥘

The golden rule of the Alentejo is: if you think you've eaten enough, it's because dessert is still missing. Stop at any tasca in a whitewashed village and order an Açorda, some Migas or some Secretos de Porco Preto. Pair it with a regional red wine and Alentejan bread (the kind with proper crumb). You'll roll out of the restaurant, but with a full soul.
3. The Great Lake Alqueva: A Freshwater Sea 🚤
After the coast, cut inland towards Alqueva. It's the largest artificial lake in Europe and the landscape is surreal. You can rent a houseboat (no boating licence required) and spend the day cruising those calm waters. At night, the Alqueva Dark Sky Reserve gives you the most starry sky you've ever seen in your life. Jaw-dropping.
4. The Rule of Slowness: If You're in a Rush, You're in the Wrong Place 🐢
In the Alentejo, things take exactly as long as they need to take. Coffee is enjoyed slowly, conversations with locals put your whole life in perspective, and driving is done with the window down, arm out catching the breeze. There are no rigid schedules or flight check-ins to make. It's you, your car and the road.
Your Car Will Come Back Dirty... But We Take Care of That!

A real road trip through the Alentejo leaves marks. There's the dust from the dirt tracks of the Costa Vicentina, the bugs on the windscreen after sunset drives, and the crumbs of Alentejan bread you dropped on the seats.
Your car was your faithful adventure companion, but when you get home, the last thing you feel like doing is queueing at automatic carwashes feeding coins, or spending Sunday with a hose in hand.
That's where the magic happens.
If instead of the Alentejo you decide to fly somewhere else, remember that Multipark isn't just a car park. While you're away relaxing, we can take care of your four-wheeled companion.
You leave us the key before your flight, and when you return, in addition to delivering the car at the airport door, it can come back gleaming. Our Wash Service (Interior and Exterior) removes all the dust, sand and crumbs. Your car smells new again, ready for the next road trip.
You rest your head, we handle the machine. Run your simulation, book your Valet Parking and add a Wash on the Multipark website!
