Introduction
Jericoacoara, or simply Jeri, is one of those places that feels like it’s straight out of a dream. A charming village with sandy streets, a breathtaking sunset and an infectious energy. If you only have 3 days to explore this paradise, don’t worry. We’ve put together an itinerary so you can enjoy the essentials, no rushing, and with the certainty that you’ll want to come back.
Day 1: Arrival and the Magical Sunset
As soon as you arrive in Jeri, the first thing to do is drop your bags and put on your flip-flops. Day one is for getting used to the village’s slower pace. Use the afternoon to explore the main beach and, of course, for the day’s big event: the sunset. Even though the famous Sunset Dune isn’t what it used to be, the show is still a must-see from the beach. If you want a more exclusive experience, Café Jeri is a great option for a stylish end to the day.

Day 2: The Famous East Side
Day two is for exploring the east side of Jericoacoara, home to some of the region’s most famous postcards. You can choose a buggy or 4x4 tour, which will take you to spots like the Lazy Tree, the Blue Hole and the stunning Lagoa do Paraíso. The Lagoa do Paraíso, with its crystal-clear waters and hammocks set in the water, is the perfect place to relax and have lunch. If you have time and an adventurous spirit, you can extend the tour to the far east, discovering the Barrinha dunes.
Day 3: The West Side Adventure
On day three, the adventure continues on the west side of Jeri. This side is more rustic and wild, but just as enchanting. The buggy tour takes you across the river, to see the seahorses in the mangrove, down the dunes on a wooden board (esquibunda) and on to lunch at Lagoa de Tatajuba. It’s a day full of thrills and varied landscapes that gives you a more complete picture of Jericoacoara’s diversity.

What you should know before you go
- Tourism fee: To enter Jericoacoara you need to pay a tourism fee. You can do it online or on arrival.
- Money: Most places accept cards, but there are no ATMs in the village. It’s always a good idea to bring some cash.
- Transport: Inside the village, everything is done on foot. Private cars aren’t allowed, so if you’re driving, you’ll have to leave your car at a parking area at the entrance.
- Best season: Jeri is a sunny destination year-round. Avoid the rainy months (March to June) and be ready for strong winds if you go during kitesurf season (August to November).
