Introduction
So, planning a trip to Berlin? Great choice! The German capital is a vibrant city, full of contrasts and with a unique energy. Forget the rushed itineraries that leave you wiped out. Our suggestion is a 3-day plan to make the most of Berlin, with time to breathe, take photos and, of course, try a good German beer. Shall we?
Day 1: History Everywhere
On the first day, we’re diving into the city’s recent and defining history. Get your legs ready, because there’s some walking ahead — but we promise it’s worth it.
Morning: Start the day at the Reichstag Building, the impressive home of the German Parliament. Its glass dome is incredible and offers panoramic city views. A friendly heads-up: visiting the dome is free, but you have to book online well in advance. Don’t forget!
Afternoon: After lunch, head to the Holocaust Memorial. It’s a place that makes you think, with its concrete blocks of varying heights. Entry is free and the experience is striking. Nearby, you’ll find the famous Brandenburg Gate, the great symbol of Berlin and German reunification. The perfect spot for the obligatory photo.
Evening: To finish the day in style, head up the TV Tower (Berliner Fernsehturm) at Alexanderplatz. The 360-degree view over the lit-up city is something quite spectacular.

Day 2: The Wall and Urban Art
The second day is dedicated to one of Berlin’s most powerful symbols: the Wall. But the city isn’t only made of memories, so we’ll also explore its more creative side.
Morning: The morning is for exploring the remnants of the Berlin Wall. Visit the East Side Gallery, the world’s largest open-air art gallery. Here, you’ll find more than a kilometre of the old wall, covered with murals and graffiti by artists from around the world. The famous kiss between Brezhnev and Honecker is here!
Afternoon: Continue your historic walk with a visit to Checkpoint Charlie, the most famous border crossing between East and West Berlin during the Cold War. It’s a touristy spot, but it helps you visualise what the divided city was like.
Evening: For dinner and to feel the city’s pulse, explore the Kreuzberg or Friedrichshain neighbourhoods. They’re lively areas, with loads of bars, restaurants and an alternative atmosphere.
Day 3: Islands, Cathedrals and a River Tour
On the last day, we’ll take it a bit easier, but without skipping some of Berlin’s cultural treasures.
Morning: The Museum Island is a must. As the name suggests, it’s an island in the Spree River that houses five internationally renowned museums. If you have to choose, the Pergamon Museum and the Neues Museum (where the bust of Nefertiti is kept) are safe bets.
Afternoon: Right next to Museum Island, you’ll find the imposing Berlin Cathedral (Berliner Dom). Its green dome is one of the city’s postcards. If you’re still feeling energetic, climb to the top for another fantastic view.
Late Afternoon: How about a boat tour on the Spree River? It’s a super relaxing way to see the city from another perspective and rest your legs before saying goodbye.

What you should know before you go
- Transport: Berlin’s public transport network is excellent. Use and abuse the metro (U-Bahn) and the train (S-Bahn).
- Footwear: You’ll be walking a lot, so bring your most comfortable shoes. Seriously, your feet will thank you.
- Money: Although most places accept card, it’s always a good idea to carry some cash (euros) for small expenses or street markets.
