§01

What general mechanics covers

General mechanics covers everything outside scheduled maintenance: when the car shows a symptom — noise, warning light, strange behaviour — and needs diagnosis and intervention. At Multipark we manage end-to-end: intake, diagnosis with professional OBD gear, root cause, written quote, and repair only after approval.

We cover engine (from valves, timing belts, turbos, injection, oil pumps, gearbox services), suspension (shocks, arms, joints, bushings, springs), brakes (pads, discs, callipers, hydraulic lines, fluid), steering, electronics (sensors, ECUs, lighting, electrification), AC (recharge, compressor, evaporator), and clutch on manuals. We don't do bodywork (panel + paint) — for those we have trusted partners.

§02

How we diagnose

Correct diagnosis is 50% of the repair. We start with the client describing the symptom — under what conditions, for how long, cold or hot. We do a controlled road test to reproduce the symptom and gather information. We then plug into OBD with brand-specific gear (we don't use 'universal adapters' that misread codes for Mercedes, BMW, Audi, PSA).

For symptoms invisible to electronic diagnosis (low-speed noises, vibrations, smells), we use specific gear — mechanical stethoscope, thermography to spot abnormal heat points, cylinder-compression test machines.

If diagnosis is inconclusive, we say so — and don't charge a failed diagnosis. It makes no sense to 'guess' repairs; that's how clients spend €2,000 on parts that don't solve the problem.

§03

Parts — OE or equivalent

The most common question: 'OE or equivalent?'. The rule we follow is simple. For warranty or premium cars (Audi, BMW, Mercedes, Porsche): OE whenever possible, since these brands' ECUs sometimes recognise non-OEM parts and throw codes. For out-of-warranty mass-market cars (Renault, Peugeot, Ford, Opel, VW popular range), an OEM-quality equivalent (the same supplier that makes the OE part, sold under their own brand) is identical but 30-50% cheaper.

For safety parts (brakes, steering, airbags), we always prioritise top-line brands — Bosch, Brembo, TRW, Ate, Valeo, Gates. For simpler consumables, we may propose mid-tier brands with good warranty.

We always tell the client which option we use and why. Full transparency.

§04

Timelines and warranty

Simple repairs (pads, filters, bulbs) same day. Medium repairs (shock, sensor, valve) 1-2 days. Major repairs (engine, gearbox) 3-10 days depending on part availability and complexity. We always quote realistic timelines — we won't promise next-day if the part still needs ordering.

Standard 12-month or 20,000 km warranty for parts + labour. On specific parts (clutch, alternator, AC compressor) warranty can extend to 24 months depending on part brand. The client receives a detailed invoice with part numbers, batch and mileage for future validation.
